Vol. 132 No. 15

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Ó Cuív that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Social Welfare to review the method of means testing social welfare applicants who live with their parents or who get casual part-time work.

I also received notice from Senator Upton of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to improve the facilities for the education of autistic children at James Connolly House, Blanchardstown, County Dublin.

I also received notice from Senator Upton of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Social Welfare to clarify his recent statement in relation to his concern about the Government's ability to maintain their present level of social welfare schemes and funding.

I also received notice from Senator Murphy of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Defence to explain the involvement of military contingents in religious ceremonies.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Ó Cuív, Upton and Murphy as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Ó Cuív's matter and Senator Upton's matter regarding facilities for the education of autistic children and they will be taken at the conclusion of business today. Senators Upton and Murphy may give notice on another day of the other matters they wish to raise.
