Seanad Éireann debate -
Thursday, 28 May 1992

Vol. 132 No. 16

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Upton that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Social Welfare to clarify his recent statement in relation to his concern about the Government ability to maintain its present level of social welfare schemes and funding.

I also received notice from Senator Cosgrave of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to review the water supply in County Dublin which requires another reservoir in view of present ongoing difficulties.

I regard the matter raised by Senator Upton as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and it will be taken at the conclusion of business.

I regret that I have had to rule the matter raised by Senator Cosgrave as not suitable for discussion on the Adjournment on the grounds of lack of ministerial responsibility.
