Seanad Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 1 Jul 1992

Vol. 133 No. 11

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator McGowan that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matters:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture and Food to examine the serious difficulties facing Irish ware potato producers who are now at a great disadvantage as a subsidy is being paid to growers in the United Kingdom.

I also received notice from Senator Dardis of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture and Food to establish differing regional reference yields for winter and spring cereals under the terms of the Common Agricultural Policy reform package.

I also received notice from Senator Costello of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to ensure that a trained remedial teacher is appointed to North Brunswick Street primary school, Dublin 7, to cater for the substantial number of students who require remedial education.

I also received notice from Senator Neville of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice to extend the retirement option for members of an Garda Síochána up to and including the rank of inspector to 60 years of age for those members due to retire after 31 December 1992.

I also received notice from Senator Ross of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Finance to delay the commencement of work on the interpretative centre at Luggalla, County Wicklow.

I regard the matters raised by Senators McGowan, Dardis, Costello, Neville and Ross as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senators McGowan's and Dardis's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Costello, Neville and Ross may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
