Seanad Éireann debate -
Thursday, 9 Jul 1992

Vol. 133 No. 16

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator O'Toole that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Foreign Affairs to raise within the European states and with the South African authorities the non-recognition of the South African Democratic Teachers' Union, the only non-racial teacher organisation in South Africa, while it recognises teacher unions which are organised along racial lines and to convey to the South African authorities the views of the Irish Government on this matter.

I regard the matter raised by Senator O'Toole as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and it will be taken at the conclusion of business.
