Seanad Éireann debate -
Thursday, 25 Feb 1993

Vol. 135 No. 3

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Daly that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry to outline the impact on farmers' incomes and on agricultural employment arising from the Common Agricultural Policy policy reforms now taking place and the main effects that these reforms will have on the agricultural industry in Ireland.

I have also received a notice from Senator Cassidy of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to implement as a matter of urgency phase two of the development of the general hospital, Mullingar, County Westmeath.

I have also received a notice from Senator Sherlock of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Enterprise and Employment to confirm his commitment and that of the Government to the future of Irish Steel in view of pressure from the European Community to secure the closure of the Haulbowline plant as part of the EC plans for rationalisation of the steel industry.

I regard the matters which have been raised by Senators Daly, Cassidy and Sherlock as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Cassidy's and Senator Sherlock's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Daly may give notice on another day of the matter he wishes to raise.
