Vol. 135 No. 15

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Reynolds that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Foreign Affairs to ensure that the Ballinamore/Ballyconnell canal will be used in the marketing of the canal.

I also received notice from Senator Norris of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Foreign Affairs to promote actively the case of the missing Swedish Diplomat, Raoul Wallenberg, in the light of continuing disclosures about his possible survival in the former Soviet Union.

I also received notice from Senator McGowan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Tourism and Trade to consider the role of Bord Fáilte and the regional tourism offices after the enterprise boards are set up.

I also received notice from Senator Neville of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to ensure that the Stella Maris school in Foynes, County Limerick, continues as a second level institution after 1955 in view of the withdrawal of the religious community and the decision not to accept first year students from September 1993.

I also received notice from Senator Enright of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to sanction the building of a new 50 bed hospital unit at Edenderry, County Offaly.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Reynolds, Norris, McGowan, Neville and Enright as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senators Reynolds' and Norris's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators McGowan, Neville and Enright may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
