I have notice from Senator Naughten that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry to amend the farm retirement scheme proposed by the EC as it will not be applicable to the vast majority of Irish farmers.

I also received notice from Senator McGowan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to provide funding for an extension to St. Columba College, Stranorlar, County Donegal.

I also received notice from Senator Burke of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to upgrade to national primary status the routes from Swinford to Ballina and Castlebar to Westport, County Mayo, as a continuation of the N5.

I also received notice from Senator Cotter of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry to take action to protect the jobs of 75 people who are employed in the manufacture of hamburgers at a factory in the Castleblayney area of County Monaghan.

I also received notice from Senator Ross of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Foreign Affairs to allocate more funding to Co-operation North.

I also received notice from Senator Dardis of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry to alleviate the losses suffered by potato and horticultural growers in Leinster resulting from the exceptional weather conditions during the growing season.

I also received notice from Senator Farrelly of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Minister for the Environment to approve funding for the provision of the new fire station at Kells, County Meath.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Naughten, McGowan, Burke, Cotter, Ross, Dardis and Farrelly as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected the matters raised by Senators Naughten and McGowan and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
