Seanad Éireann debate -
Thursday, 1 Sep 1994

Vol. 141 No. 1

Death of Member. - Order of Business.

On the request of the Taoiseach I have summoned the House to sit for the purpose of taking statements on the announcement by the IRA of a complete cessation of military operations. I now call the Leader of the House.

Before the Leader speaks may I ask if there can be latitude at the end of the debate.

I am sure the Leader will deal with that matter.

I suggest that there be ten minutes per spokesperson and six minutes thereafter, if that is agreed.

My understanding was that there would be 15 minutes per spokesperson and six thereafter; I thought that had been agreed this morning.

That was my understanding also.

That would be fine.

May we share our time?

Sharing may take place because we are making statements.

I am sorry to rise again but because of the importance of the debate I ask for latitude to allow everyone to contribute.

The Chair will exercise latitude.

Order of Business agreed to.
