I have also received notice from Senator McGennis of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht to make a statement on the Government's proposals for the public acquisition of 170 acres of land in the Liffey Valley, Lucan; if a price has been agreed with the owners and the likely time scale for the land to come into public ownership.

I have also received notice from Senator Fahey of the following matter:

To ask the Minister for Education the plans she has for the introduction of the early retirement scheme for teachers as promised at teachers conferences in 1993.

I regard the matters raised as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Ross' and Senator Kiely's matters and they will be taken today at the conclusion of business. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
