Vol. 143 No. 12

Business of Seanad.

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

I have notice from Senator Kiely that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Enterprise and Employment to provide assistance to the Neodata plant in Kilmallock, County Limerick, in order to save the recently announced job losses.

I have also received notice from Senator Sherlock of the following matter:

To ask the Minister for the Environment when a decision will be taken on the environmental impact study for the extension of the landfill site at Ballyguyroe, North Kildorrery, Cork, in order to allay the concerns of people living in the area.

I have also received notice from Senator O'Kennedy of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to establish statutory funding for driving assessment training and advice for people with physical disabilities.

I have also received notice from Senator McGennis of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to increase the grant aid which is made available to the Irish Wheelchair Association for the provision of a school for disabled drivers, bearing in mind that the service may have to be discontinued at the end of June due to a lack of funds.

I have also received notice from Senator Wall of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to address the concern of the Irish Wheelchair Association for the future of its driving school and to give the support and back-up services which are needed for its continued operation.

I have also received notice from Senator Enright of the following matter:

The difficulties encountered by people in receipt of pensions, children's allowances and other payments in Tullamore post office in view of the fact that the post office premises is too small to cope with the numbers using it.

I regard the matters raised by Senator Kiely, Senator O'Kennedy, Senator McGennis, Senator Wall and Senator Sherlock as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Kiely's and Senator Sherlock's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business.

I regret that I had to rule the matter raised by Senator Enright as not suitable for discussion on the Adjournment on the grounds of lack of ministerial responsibility. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
