I have notice from Senator Neville that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:
The need for the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs to convey to the interparliamentary conference on East Timor taking place in Portugal Ireland's strong stance against the atrocities continuing to be perpetrated against the people of East Timor and Ireland's support for the self-determination of the Timorese people.
I also received notice from Senator O'Kennedy of the following matter:
The need for the Minister for Health to establish statutory funding for driving assessment training and advice for people with physical disabilities.
I also received notice from Senator McGennis of the following matter:
The need for the Minister for Health to increase the grant aid which is made available to the Irish Wheelchair Association for the provision of a school for disabled drivers, bearing in mind that the service may have to be discontinued at the end of June due to lack of funds.
I also received notice from Senator Wall of the following matter:
The need for the Minister for Health to address the concern of the Irish Wheelchair Association for the future of its driving school and give the support and backup services which are needed for its continued operation.
I regard the matters raised as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Neville's and Senator O'Kennedy's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. As Senator McGennis' and Senator Wall's matters are on the same topic as Senator O'Kennedy's, I understand they will come to some arrangement as regards sharing time.
