I have notice from Senator McGowan that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:
The need for the Minister for the Environment to provide a sewerage system for Ballybofey and Stranorlar in County Donegal.
I have also received notice from Senator Maloney of the following matter:
The need for the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications to intervene with a view to saving the 90 jobs threatened in the Londonderry and Lough Swilley Bus Company, Letterkenny, County Donegal.
I have also received notice from Senator Sherlock of the following matter:
The need for the Minister for the Environment to seek a report on recent events in Cork where a water pollution health scare forced the closure of schools in east Cork affecting over 260 children on 6 June, and in north Cork the destruction of seven miles of a salmon spawning river and the wiping out of tens of thousands of fish.
I regard the matter raised by Senator McGowan as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I regret that I had to rule the matters raised by Senators Maloney and Sherlock as not suitable for discussion on the Adjournment on the grounds of lack of ministerial responsibility.
