Seanad Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 1 Nov 1995

Vol. 145 No. 1

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Fahey that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

To ask the Minister for Justice if she is aware that Garda strengths in Galway city are down by 22 since January 1994 with at least a further five retirements by January next; and if she will outline the number of Garda appointments she now proposes for Galway city and the timescale for those appointments.

I have also received notice from Senator Cosgrave of the following matter:

To ask the Minister for Justice if she is aware of the delay in her Department in granting a visa to a person (details supplied) who has been granted a work permit and is expected to commence employment shortly.

I have also received notice from Senator McGennis of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to make a statement regarding the delay in the transfer of corporation housing stock and land-bank to the three new Dublin local authorities.

I regard the matters raised as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senators Fahey's and Cosgrave's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator McGennis may give notice on another day of the matter she wishes to raise.
