Vol. 145 No. 3

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator McGennis that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to make a statement regarding the delay in the transfer of the corporation housing stock and landbank to the three new Dublin local authorities.

I have also received notice from Senator Howard on the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Enterprise and Employment to outline the extent he has examined the Report of the Group of Independent Experts on Legislature and Administration Simplification, and which of the 121 proposals put forward will be recommended by the Government for priority action.

I have also received notice from Senator Mulcahy on the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to make a statement on the proposal by the Eastern Health Board to locate a drug rehabilitation unit in Weir Home, Cork Street, Dublin 8, and on the anxiety that this proposal is causing residents of the home, residents in the area, and on the location of drug rehabilitation units generally.

I have also received notice from Senator Mooney on the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to indicate whether the Irish Government was consulted by the European Commission on the establishment of the Eurathlon programme and if she agrees that the requirements of at least three member states participating should be reduced to two in order to permit the development of Irish sport, especially our national games.

I have also received notice from Senator Neville on the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Marine to establish a centre for international maritime business.

I have also received notice from Senator Burke on the following matter:

The need for the Minister of the Environment to provide funding to upgrade the existing swimming pool and facilities at Castlebar, County Mayo.

I regard the matters raised as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senators McGennis' and Howard's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
