Seanad Éireann debate -
Thursday, 9 Nov 1995

Vol. 145 No. 4

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Mulcahy that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to make a statement on the proposal by the Eastern Health Board to locate a drug rehabilitation unit in Weir Home, Cork Street, Dublin 8, and on the anxiety that this proposal is causing residents of the home, residents in the area, and on the location of drug rehabilitation units generally.

I have received notice from Senator Daly on the following matter:

To ask the Minister for the Environment if he will make a statement on the current situation regarding applications for EU Cohesion Funding for water and sewerage schemes, with particular reference to County Clare, and when decisions will be taken on individual projects.

I have also received notice from Senator Mooney on the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to indicate whether the Irish Government was consulted by the European Commission on the establishment of the Eurathlon Programme and if she agrees that the requirements of at least three member states participating should be reduced to two in order to permit the development of Irish sport, especially our national games.

I regard the matters raised as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Mulcahy's and Senator Daly's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Mooney may give notice on another day of the matter he wishes to raise.
