Seanad Éireann debate -
Tuesday, 12 Dec 1995

Vol. 145 No. 13

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Rory Kiely that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Enterprise and Employment to provide assistance to the Neodata plants in Newcastlewest and Kilmallock, County Limerick which are due to close at Christmas.

I have also received notice from Senator McGowan on the following matter:

The need for the Government to recognise cross-Border structures where elected members from both sides of the Border come together to implement a development plan for the regions.

I have also received notice from Senator Neville on the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Enterprise and Employment to ensure that the State agencies immediately find replacement industries following the closure of Neodata factories in Newcastlewest and Kilmallock, County Limerick.

I have also received notice from Senator Kelly on the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Enterprise and Employment to make a statement on the loss of 107 jobs in the Neodata plants in Newcastlewest and Kilmallock, County Limerick.

I have also received notice from Senator Daly on the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to indicate the funds available for small local sports and recreation projects; and if she will sanction funds for such projects in County Clare.

I have also received notice from Senator Kelleher on the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry to consider the reintroduction of livestock quarantine for animal imports.

I regard the matters raised as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senators Kiely's and McGowan's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. As Senators Neville's and Kelly's matters are on the same topic as Senator Kiely's, I suggest that they might share time. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
