Wednesday, 29 May 1996

Vol. 147 No. 10

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator McGowan that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to provide funding to complete a PE hall at Raphoe vocational school, County Donegal.

I have also received notice from Senator Henry of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice to appoint an inspector of prisons with specific powers, duties and terms of reference.

I have also received notice from Senator Cosgrave of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Enterprise and Employment to outline his attitude to the recent Consumer Association of Ireland survey into the country's 13 big mortgage lenders.

I have also received notice from Senator Roche of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to make a statement on the failure of her Department to properly process a series of complaints lodged by the parents of children attending a school (details supplied) under the aegis of Bray vocational education committee.

I have also received notice from Senator Daly of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to outline the action she proposes to take to end the strike which is to take place on the 29 May 1996 at Kilrush community school, if she is aware of the concerns of the students and parents at this development, and if she will make a statement on this matter.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator McGowan's and Senator Henry's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business.
