I have notice from Senator Mooney that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to review allowances paid to elected councillors introduced in 1995.

I have also received notice from Senator Enright of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to approve the necessary finance to Laois Vocational Education Committee to purchase lands at the rear of Rathdowney vocational education committee, County Laois, for use as a sports field by the students and to allow for further expansion of this school in the future.

I have also received notice from Senator Sherlock of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to give urgent consideration to have the plans for a new vocational education committee school at Summerhill, Mallow, expedited.

I have also received notice from Senator Neville of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to sanction the extension to replace the prefabricated classrooms at Pallaskenry national school, County Limerick.

I have also received notice from Senator Maloney of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to provide funding for a new fire station in Buncrana, County Donegal.

I have also received notice from Senator Rory Kiely of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry to immediately reinstate his staff at Henshaws Meat Factory, Dock Road, Limerick, so as to enable them to reopen the slaughterhouse and to allow the plant function properly.

I have also received notice from Senator Hayes of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to consider the idea of changing the day for national voting from Thursday to Sunday.

I have also received notice from Senator Honan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications to immediately address the unconfirmed reports that the Laois/ Offaly area could lose the Europeat plant whose development has the potential to bring 500 permanent jobs to the area.

I have also received notice from Senator Finneran of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry to have the Suck Valley catchment area included in the new EU category of extremely disadvantaged areas.

I have also received notice from Senator Fahey of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to approve tenders for the interim development at University College Hospital, Galway, and approve the major hospital control plan for the construction of a proper acute hospital for the West.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Mooney's and Senator Enright's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
