Seanad Éireann debate -
Thursday, 27 Feb 1997

Vol. 150 No. 6

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Mooney that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to report on the discussions of the interdepartmental committee established by her to address the special needs of children with disabilities.

I have also received notice from Senator O'Kennedy of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communication to give approval to Killenaule Community Television Company Ltd. for a TV retransmission system as requested by the company in its formal application to the Department on 16 January 1997.

I have also received notice from Senator Finneran of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to sanction and provide the necessary funds for the construction of a new national school at Cloontuskert, County Roscommon.

I have also received notice from Senator Mullooly of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to provide immediate sanction to the board of management of Lanesboro Community College, Lanesboro, County Longford, to advertise the proposed school extension for tender so that work on the project can commence in early Summer 1997.

I have also received notice from Senator O'Toole of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice, in light of the indentification by the media of the nine Liberian refugees who were allowed ashore on Tuesday, 25 February 1997, to ensure that all personnel working in the media in Ireland will not repeat such a life-threatening exercise.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Mooney, O'Kennedy, Finneran, Mullooly and O'Toole as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senators Mooney's and O'Kennedy's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Finneran, Mullooly and O'Toole may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
