Vol. 150 No. 10

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Maloney that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice to explain why transit vans which have been imported legally into Donegal should be seized by the Garda.

I also received notice from Senator Quinn of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Enterprise and Employment to convene urgently a national taskforce to ensure that Irish business and public services are aware of and prepared for the "Millennium Bomb" which will affect computers and computerised equipment.

I also received notice from Senator Finneran of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to honour the existing agreement in which school transport is provided for post-primary pupils from Dysart, County Roscommon.

I also received notice from Senator Hayes of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to make a statement on the proposed extension of the Tallaght regional technical college, given the serious problems of overcrowding in the college.

I also received notice from Senator Naughten of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to provide adequate supervision of butchers outlets.

I regard the matters raised by Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Maloney's and Senator Quinn's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
