Standing Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills: Message from Dáil.

Dáil Eíreann has passed the following Order:—

That, notwithstanding anything in Standing Orders—

(1) the Taxes Consolidation Bill, 1997, be referred to the Standing Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills;

(2) the first meeting of the Committee be held on Thursday, 23rd October, 1997; and

(3) in the case of the Taxes Consolidation Bill, 1997—

(a) it shall be an instruction to the Committee that it has power to group sections together for the purposes of debate and to dispose of more than one section (and any amendments thereto) by one Question, which shall be put from the Chair; and

(b) the Report of the Committee on the Bill shall, on adoption by the Committee, be laid before both Houses of the Oireachtas not later than Friday, 24th October, 1997, whereupon the Committee shall be empowered to print and publish such report and the amendments, if any, made by the Committee to the Bill."
