Seanad Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 5 May 1999

Vol. 159 No. 5

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator O'Meara that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment and Local Government to institute new planning regulations, specifically in order to allow crèches to develop in the community.

I have also received notice from Senator Gallagher of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to speed up the admission of Kosovar refugees to this country and to broaden the criteria for acceptance of such refugees to include not only those in refugee camps, but also those who have been generously accommodated by people in their homes in neighbouring states.

I have also received notice from Senator Henry of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to ensure that the ethical code of any public hospital does not prevent patients having any treatment which is legal in this country.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected the matters raised by Senators O'Meara and Gallagher and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Henry may give notice on another day of the matter she wishes to raise.
