Seanad Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 7 Jul 1999

Vol. 160 No. 5

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator O'Meara that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to ensure the immediate establishment of a full-time drugs unit for North Tipperary, in light of the growing public concern in the area at the activities of a number of drug dealers, particularly in Nenagh and Thurles.

I have also received notice from Senator Chambers of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Public Enterprise to bring forward a comprehensive investment plan for the regional airports throughout the country as part of the National Development Plan that is currently being drawn up by the Government.

I have also received notice from Senator Costello of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to take the necessary measures to ensure that the events which occurred on 27 May 1999, in relation to the execution of a warrant (details supplied), do not occur again.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment, and I have selected the matters raised by Senators O'Meara and Chambers. They will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Costello may give notice on another day of the matter he wishes to raise.

As this is the final sitting day of this session, I take this opportunity to thank all Members for their co-operation and assistance during the session and all members of the staff of the House for their co-operation and assistance. I wish all of you a very enjoyable holiday.
