Seanad Éireann debate -
Thursday, 14 Oct 1999

Vol. 160 No. 8

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Costello that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to provide adequate respite and residential care for young adult males whose behaviour is challenged.

I have also received notice from Senator Avril Doyle of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs to outline whether the awarding of the social welfare distribution contract to An Post, without going to tender, contravenes Article 86 of the Treaty of Rome, the EU's Public Procurement Directive 92/50 and the advice of his own Government's contracts committee.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and they will be taken at the conclusion of business.
