Seanad Éireann debate -
Tuesday, 19 Oct 1999

Vol. 160 No. 9

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Ross that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment and Local Government to expedite the funding for a sewage plant to prevent the flow of raw sewage from the Avoca river into Wicklow harbour.

I have also received notice from Senator Chambers of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources to indicate the efforts being made by Coillte Teoranta to avert the proposed closure of Cong Sawmills at the end of this month and the plans being put in place for the 15 job losses that will occur.

Senator Ross's matter will be taken at the conclusion of business. I regret that I must rule Senator Chambers's matter out of order as the Minister has no official responsibility to the Seanad in this matter, which is one of day to day administration for Coillte Teoranta.
