Seanad Éireann debate -
Thursday, 3 Feb 2000

Vol. 162 No. 4

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Liam Cosgrave that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to outline the reason acute hospitals are being penalised for keeping patients too long, without due regard to the medical needs of the patients whose interests should be the priority consideration.

I have also received notice from Senator Mary Henry of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to outline his views on the fact that public meetings by an unregistered adoption agency are being held to facilitate inter-country adoptions for financial gain.

I have also received notice from Senator Margaret Cox of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment and Local Government to make available an information and education video outlining the current national policy on waste management and indicating the advantages and disadvantages of thermal treatment, recycling and landfill.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected those of Senators Cosgrave and Henry and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Cox may give notice on another day of the matter she wishes to raise.
