Vol. 164 No. 12

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator O'Meara that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to sanction the relocation of Ballytarsna primary school, Cashel, County Tipperary, in light of the severe danger to children attending the school from the heavy traffic on the N8.

I have also received notice from Senator Bonner of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to expand and improve the cancer services at Letterkenny General Hospital, by approving the hospital as a centre of excellence, in line with the report of the National Cancer Forum.

I have also received notice from Senator Finneran of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to expedite approval of the stage 3 submission from the board of management of Ballyfeeney national school, County Roscommon, as the improvements involved are urgently needed.

I have also received notice from Senator Taylor-Quinn of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Public Enterprise to clarify the future of Moneypoint generating station in light of recent ministerial statements relating to compliance with international environmental agreements, and the strategy, if any, that the Government is adopting to retain Moneypoint in operation.

I have also received notice from Senator Burke of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children under the Health Act, 1970, in so far as the powers of health boards and their members are concerned in regard to their function and powers, to provide services for the people under the said Health Act of 1970.

I have also received notice from Senator Dan Kiely of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Public Enterprise to include County Kerry in the new proposed national gas lines for the country.

I regard the matters raised by Senators O'Meara, Bonner, Finneran, Taylor-Quinn and Burke as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator O'Meara's and Senator Bonner's matters which will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Finneran, Taylor-Quinn and Burke may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise. I regret that I have had to rule Senator Dan Kiely's matter out of order as the Minister has no official responsibility in this matter.
