I propose an amendment to the Order of Business: "That No. 3 shall resume from 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m.; No. 5 shall be taken at 9 p.m., with the contributions of spokespersons not to exceed ten minutes and those of all other Senators not to exceed seven minutes and Senators may share time; Nos. 6 and 7 shall be taken at the conclusion of No. 5; and No. 3, if not concluded, shall resume thereafter."
Business of Seanad.
I regret that those in my group want to continue with business as it was arranged this morning and do not want it disrupted in the way outlined by the Leader.
I must take the same line. We anticipated this earlier and those who have been here all day feel they have given a great deal of commitment to No. 3 and that the debate should continue. This is not an attempt to be unhelpful but Members have made a commitment to follow the Bill through and feel it demonstrates a lack of respect for important legislation. They cannot agree to the amendment. This is not an attempt to be unhelpful.
