Vol. 170 No. 25

Business of Seanad.

I have received notice from Senator Minihan that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to outline the reason for the delay in awarding the building contract for the new Cork School of Music.

I have also received notice from Senator O'Brien of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to indicate if he has received the report from the North Eastern Health Board regarding the tragic death of a new born infant whose mother was refused admission to Monaghan General Hospital last week.

I have also received notice from Senator Finucane of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to clarify when a replacement primary school will be provided for St. Nicholas's primary school in Adare, County Limerick, as this school was promised in 1999.

I have also received notice from Senator Higgins of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to make a statement on the imminent closure of Bellacorick power station, County Mayo, with the loss of 271 jobs in the ESB and Bord na Móna, and the plans she has to replace the lost jobs with alternative employment.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Minihan, Finucane and O'Brien as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. I regret that I have had to rule out of order the matter raised by Senator Higgins as the Minister has no official responsibility in the matter.
