Vol. 184 No. 3

Business of Seanad.

I have received notice from Senator Tuffy that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to give an update on the schemes a parent of a child in a special needs school might access during the summer school holiday period to ensure continued classes, tuition, supports, etc., whether schools can be requested to continue classes for the child concerned and on what basis.

I have also received notice from Senator Morrissey of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources, given the State's position as shareholder in the ESB, and the Department's explicit role to represent the State in the corporate governance role and the facilitation of the ESB's growth, to outline the State's view regarding access to electricity in new housing estates in light of reported serious problems for new homeowners and families in north Dublin.

I regard the matter raised by Senator Tuffy as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. I regret that I have had to rule out of order the matter raised by Senator Morrissey as the Minister has no official responsibility in the matter, it is a matter for the ESB.
