Seanad Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 14 May 2008

Vol. 189 No. 14

Business of Seanad.

I have received notice from Senator Ivor Callely that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to outline the proposal to move the Central Mental Hospital to Thornton Hall.

I have also received notice from Senator Maria Corrigan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to confirm that funding will be provided to ensure September placements for those young people with disabilities leaving school in June 2008.

I have also received notice from Senator Paudie Coffey of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government to outline progress on the Seven Villages sewerage scheme in County Waterford, with particular attention to the Cappoquin sewerage scheme and the reason its progress is being delayed due to the proposed introduction of a new tender procedure that a Department working group is putting together and is not expected to have finalised for the next few months.

I have also received notice from Senator Frances Fitzgerald of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government to outline his policy in relation to the possible development of private incinerator facilities which may be developed at Behan's Quarry, Rathcoole, County Dublin and his overall approach and policy to the development of such facilities by private companies and whether and how they conform to national waste management policy.

I have also received notice from Senator Shane Ross of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport to ensure the metro construction works in St. Stephen's Green, Dublin cause minimal damage to the environment and the least possible inconvenience to the public.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Callely, Corrigan and Coffey as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and they will be taken on the conclusion of business. I regret I have had to rule out of order the matter raised by Senator Fitzgerald as the Minister has no official responsibility in the matter. I regret I have had to rule out of order the matter raised by Senator Ross as the matter is anticipatory of the Dublin Transport Authority Bill 2008 which is currently before the House.
