Vol. 210 No. 16

Business of Seanad

I have received notice from Senator Trevor Ó Clochartaigh that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to clarify his position on the commitment entered into with the WHO in 2003 on implementing the Vision 2020 strategy; to outline when he proposes to set up a national co-ordinating committee to develop and implement a national vision policy, strategy and plan and who will be on that committee; and if he can confirm the commitment to support the campaign of the Vision Impaired Service Alliance regarding service provision, research and support for visually impaired people in Ireland.

I have also received notice from Senator Fidelma Healy Eames of the following matter:

The need for the Minister of Health to review the case for the provision of diabetic pumps and the appropriate backup staff for children with type 1 diabetes in County Galway.

I have also received notice from Senator Marc MacSharry of the following matter:

The need for the Minister of Education and Skills to address the issues faced due to increased pupil numbers and the lack of teaching posts at Gaelscoil Chnoc na Ré, Ballydoogan, County Sligo.

I have also received notice from Senator Michael D'Arcy of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Skills to review the deplorable conditions at Scoil Ghormán Naofa, Castletown, Gorey, County Wexford; and to make a statement in relation to the prospect of a rebuild or refurbishment.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and they will be taken at the conclusion of business.
