Vol. 218 No. 1

Business of Seanad

I have received notice from Senator Darragh O’Brien that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine to outline the steps being taken to ensure that Ireland regains a sugar quota should the quota regime remain in place post the 2015 review of the quota within Europe and the time envisaged for the conclusion of these negotiations.

I have also received notice from Senator Mark Daly of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Skills to carry out an assessment on the long-term impact changes in the school transport system will have on scoil náisiúnta Réalt Na Mara, Tuosist, County Kerry.

I have also received notice from Senator Thomas Byrne of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Skills to outline his response to the proposed cut to the staffing schedule at Ratoath junior national school, County Meath.

I have also received notice from Senator Trevor Ó Clochartaigh of the following matter:

Go dtabharfaidh an tAire Comhshaoil, Pobail agus Rialtais Áitiúil sonraí, briste síos de réir gach údaras áitiúil, maidir le cé mhéid duine atá air agus cé chomh fada is a bhíonn daoine ag fanacht ar an liosta don deontas Cóirithe tithíochta ó na comhairlí chontae agus cathrach ar fad sa tír.

I regard the matters raised by Senators O’Brien, Daly and Byrne as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. I regret I have had to rule out of order the matter raised by Senator Ó Clochartaigh as the Minister has no responsibility in this matter. It is a matter for the local authorities.
