Vol. 232 No. 12

Business of Seanad

I have received notice from Senator John Whelan that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Skills to outline the efforts and initiatives he has taken to alleviate the high back-to-school costs for working families, especially in respect of the expense of school books each year.

I have also received notice from Senator Hildegarde Naughton of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Social Protection to appear before the Seanad to clarify the current review of the free travel scheme and to confirm that there is no intention to remove or revoke any pass for senior citizens currently in receipt of such a benefit.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and they will be taken at the conclusion of business.
