Vol. 293 No. 12

Distinguished Visitors

Before starting, I welcome visitors from St. Cronan’s National School in Swords. They are most welcome. I hope they enjoy Seanad Éireann and some of them come back at some stage in the future as Senators or TDs. I would advocate for the Senate. As an official resolution of the Seanad, I announce that they will have no homework for the rest of the week. Let us see how the parents deal with that one. It always proves to be a very popular policy. One of our few popular policies in the Seanad is a no-homework policy for visiting schools.

I also welcome in the Distinguished Visitors' Gallery my friend Amy Summers a delegate from the West Virginia State Legislature and her husband, Rod. I wish him a happy retirement from the FBI. We know that while he is here, we are all very secure and safe. We are delighted they are able to be here. I know that the Speaker of the House, Roger Hanshaw, is delighted Ms Summers is here. I thank her for her support for the American Irish State Legislators Caucus. I also wish her a belated happy birthday which took place yesterday. She is most welcome to the Seanad and I thank her for her service in West Virginia.
