Vol. 295 No. 11

Gnó an tSeanaid - Business of Seanad

I have received notice from the following Senators that they propose to raise the following matters:

Senator John Cummins - The need for the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to amend the regulations governing domestic septic tanks to allow those who purchased homes with an unregistered septic tank post 1 February 2013 to avail of a grant for remediation works.

Senator Annie Hoey - The need for the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to make a statement on gratuity payments made to councillors on retirement and the reason that the final gratuity calculation is based on pre-July 2021 salary payments.

Senator Emer Currie - The need for the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to update the Childcare Facilities Guidelines for Planning Authorities 2001 to address the chronic supply issues in childcare.

Senator Robbie Gallagher - The need for the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth to make a statement on the extension of Drumlin House, Cootehill, County Cavan, to facilitate additional accommodation.

Senator Erin McGreehan - The need for the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to extend the domestic wastewater treatment systems grant scheme to all domestic homeowners with septic tanks to permit proactive upgrade or inspections.

Senator Seán Kyne - The need for the Minister for Finance to make a statement on progress on the programme for Government commitment to index link tax credits and bands.

Senator Fiona O'Loughlin - The need for the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications to make a statement on the exclusion of Rathangan, County Kildare, from Just Transition funding.

Senator Victor Boyhan - The need for the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to make a statement on his commitments to people living in homes with building defects and the timeline for the publication and implementation of the draft fire safety code of practice.

Senator Maria Byrne - The need for the Minister for Social Protection to provide an update on the review of the means test.

Senator Michael McDowell - The need for the Minister for Justice to ensure An Garda Síochána enforces the laws pertaining to slot machines and gaming arcades in Dublin city.

Senator Tim Lombard - The need for the Minister for Transport to provide an update on works at Castlefreke and Old Head coastguard stations.

Of the matters raised by the Senators that are suitable for discussion, I have selected Senators Cummins, Hoey, Currie and Gallagher and they will be taken now. I regret I had to rule out of order the matter raised by Senator McDowell on the grounds that the Minister has no official responsibility in the matter. All other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters that they wish to raise.
