Vol. 296 No. 2

Gnó an tSeanaid - Business of Seanad

I have received notice from the following Senators that they propose to raise the following matters:

Senator Victor Boyhan - The need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine to make a statement on the establishment of a national forestry authority to work collaboratively with the public and private forestry sectors to progress the national forestry programme.

Senator Martin Conway - The need for the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to make a statement on the roll-out of the proposed pilot wastewater scheme for villages and towns.

Senator Barry Ward - The need for the Minister for Health to provide funding for small businesses to make high-quality breastfeeding facilities available and for a public information campaign in this regard.

Senator Ollie Crowe - The need for the Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media to make a statement on the funding provided to Connacht Rugby for the development of the Sportsground in Galway city.

Senator Erin McGreehan - The need for the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to request that all local authorities make available the location of public disabled parking bays in their regions and to undertake an assessment of these disabled parking bays in regard to guidelines, best practice and proportion relative to population and other public parking.

Senator Mary Fitzpatrick - The need for the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to provide an update on the redevelopment and provision of 163 new homes at St Mary’s Place, Dorset Street, Dublin 7.

Senator Fiona O'Loughlin - The need for the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth to make a statement on the allocation of The Gables in Newbridge, County Kildare as a home for up to 100 international protection applicants.

Senator Tim Lombard - The need for the Minister for Health to provide an update on the recruitment campaign undertaken to fill the vacancies in podiatry services in the community healthcare organisation, CHO, 4 area.

Senator Malcolm Byrne - The need for the Minister for the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth to outline the measures in place to recruit and retain foster carers.

Senator Seán Kyne - The need for the Minister for Health to make a statement on the roll-out of Westdoc services to Moycullen and Oughterard, County Galway.

Of the matters raised by the Senators suitable for discussion, I have selected Senators Victor Boyhan, Martin Conway, Barry Ward and Ollie Crowe and they will be taken now. I regret that I had to rule out of order the matter raised by Senator McGreehan on the ground that the Minister had no official responsibility in the matter raised. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters that they wish to raise.
