Vol. 298 No. 13

Gnó an tSeanaid - Business of Seanad

I have received notice from the following Senators that they propose to raise the following matters:

Senator Rónán Mullen - The need for the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science to make a statement on the compliance requirements in the Athena SWAN charter and the need to review the evolving nature of the charter as it applies in Ireland and the approaches to compliance being taken by third level institutions to ensure the necessary guarantees are in place that third level staff will not be discriminated against and their academic freedom will be preserved.

Senator Sharon Keogan - The need for the Minister for Education to make a statement on the timelines for application for planning permission for the Educate Together School, Mill Road, Colpe, Drogheda, County Meath.

Senator Malcolm Byrne - The need for the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications to make a statement on the plans in place to respond to a potential collapse in the Atlantic meridional overturning circulation.

Senator Martin Conway - The need for the Minister for Rural and Community Development to increase the funding allocation to the local improvement scheme given the considerable waiting lists across the country.

Senator Fintan Warfield - The need for the Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media to outline the actions being taken to address the acute and urgent need for artist workspaces across the State.

The matters raised by the Senators are suitable for discussion and I have selected Senators Rónán Mullen, Sharon Keogan, Malcolm Byrne and Martin Conway and they will be taken now. Senator Fintan Warfield may give notice on another day of the matter that he wishes to raise.
