Vol. 299 No. 3

Gnó an tSeanaid - Business of Seanad

I have received notice from the following Senators that they propose to raise the following matters:

Senator Emer Currie - The need for the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth to make a statement on core funding for small to medium-sized childcare providers.

Senator Paul Gavan - The need for the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to make a statement on the EU platform workers directive.

Senator John McGahon - The need for the Minister for Health to make a statement on the cuts in supports provided to women who have undergone a mastectomy.

Senator Paul Daly - The need for the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to provide a temporary extension to the 1 March closing date for permissible hedge cutting due to the current saturation of farmland as a result of the recent rainfall.

Senator Mary Seery Kearney - The need for the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to make a statement on the request from the Multi-Unit Developments Act reform group to appoint an interim owners' management company regulator to address concerns about the interim remediation scheme.

Senator Malcolm Byrne - The need for the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to make a statement on the use of schools as the primary venue for polling centres in elections and referendums and if alternatives could be considered.

Senator Lynn Boylan - The need for the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to update the building regulations to increase the share of timber-frame buildings and new building technologies in order to reduce emissions.

Senator Martin Conway - The need for the Minister for Health to outline when a dialysis service will be operational in Ennis serving the people of Clare.

Senator Maria Byrne - The need for the Minister for Transport to make a statement on the need for a bus stop at Annacotty Business Park, Limerick.

Of the matters raised by the Senators suitable for discussion, I have selected those of Senators Currie, Gavan, McGahon and Daly and they will be taken now.

I regret that I had to rule out of order the matters raised by Senators Mary Seery Kearney and Maria Byrne on the ground that the relevant Minister has no official responsibility in the matters raised. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
