Vol. 299 No. 5

Visit of Slovakian Delegation

Before I move to the amendment of the Order of Business, I extend a céad míle fáilte on my own behalf and on behalf of gach duine agus gach ball den Teach in welcoming a parliamentary delegation from Slovakia who have joined us in the Distinguished Visitors Gallery. The delegation is led by H.E. Mr. Peter Pellegrini, the Speaker of the National Council of the Slovak Republic. He is very welcome to our Gallery this afternoon. I thank him for being here and I look forward to him developing and continuing the friendship and work we are doing on many different levels.

I also welcome H.E. Ambassador Andrej Droba. He has been a very strong friend of the parliamentary community here and under his leadership, the Oireachtas, under the chairmanship of Senator John Cummins, has established a very proactive Slovakian friendship group. I hope the visit is a very successful one.

We are deeply conscious of the new and ongoing friendship with the Slovakian people. We thank the delegation for being here. I hope they enjoy their visit.

Ambassador Droba is doing a tremendous job visiting all parts of the country. He was with Senator Byrne in Wexford recently and he has been in Cork with me. He is working hard on behalf of the people of Slovakia. He is very welcome to Leinster House.
