Select Committee on Enterprise and Economic Strategy debate -
Tuesday, 13 Jul 1993

SECTION 22.

Question proposed: "That section 22 stand part of the Bill."

This section is connected to sections 20 and 21. Was it inserted in this form deliberately after due consideration and in the light of what has happened in relation to the sale of shares in Irish Life and Greencore?

Is the Deputy asking me a direct question pertaining to section 22?

This is a standard provision in legislation relating to State-owned companies.

It is like mortal sin: full knowledge and full consent?

The Deputy is not guilty of mortal sin.

Absolution is important and available to all.

I would like our socialist colleagues to be aware of the implications of what they are doing.

Question put and agreed to.
