Select Committee on Finance and General Affairs debate -
Wednesday, 10 May 1995

SECTION 36.

Question proposed: "That section 36 stand part of the Bill".

The explanatory memorandum states:

Section 36 confirms that the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht may impose such conditions concerning any matter in relation to his certification of a qualifying film... Section 36 also clarifies that a film must be certified as a qualifying film by the Minister...

Does this mean that the provisions applicable hitherto were not watertight?

It is a clarifying section.

Question put and agreed to.
