SELECT COMMITTEE ON HEALTH AND CHILDREN debate -
Wednesday, 10 Jun 1998

Vol. 1 No. 3

Business of Select Committee.

The Select Committee has been convened to consider Committee Stage of the Food Safety Authority of Ireland Bill, 1998. I welcome Deputy Brian Cowen, Minister for Health and Children, and Deputy Tom Moffatt, Minister of State at the Department of Health and Children and their officials.

It is proposed that we meet until 1 p.m., suspend proceedings from 1 p.m. to 2.15 p.m., continue our deliberations until 5 p.m. with another suspension from 5 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. and if Committee Stage has not been completed at 8.15 p.m. we will adjourn until tomorrow, 11 June, at 2.30 p.m. Is that agreed?

I would like to propose an amendment to that schedule. Many Members were here late last night and have other engagements this evening. Would it be possible to finish at 5.30 this evening?

I understand the Minister has an engagement at 5 p.m. so perhaps we can agree to conclude then.

I concur with that arrangement.

Is it agreed that we suspend our proceedings at 5 p.m. and resume at 2.30 p.m. tomorrow? Agreed.
