SELECT COMMITTEE ON JUSTICE, EQUALITY, DEFENCE AND WOMEN'S RIGHTS debate -
Wednesday, 30 Jun 2004

Message to Dáil.

In accordance with Standing Order 85, the following message will be sent to the Dáil:

The Select Committee on Justice, Equality, Defence and Women's Rights has completed its consideration of the Proceeds of Crime (Amendment) Bill 1999, and has made amendments thereto.

Before we finish, may I comment that this was a fiendishly difficult piece of legislation. I compliment the Minister's officials for having coped with the turns and twists.

As time goes on the Deputy will come to acknowledge the expertise of the officials.

I too compliment the officials. It was difficult and convoluted legislation. I also compliment the Minister of State who, as always, most competently substituted for the Minister, Deputy McDowell.

The select committee went into private session at 3.21 p.m. and adjourned at 3.30 p.m. until2.30 p.m. on Tuesday, 6 July 2004.
