SELECT COMMITTEE ON JUSTICE, EQUALITY, DEFENCE AND WOMEN'S RIGHTS debate -
Thursday, 1 May 2008

Business of Select Committee.

The purpose of this meeting is to continue Committee Stage of the Immigration, Residence and Protection Bill 2008. The meeting will adjourn at 1 p.m. until Thursday, 8 May. I welcome the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, Deputy Brian Lenihan, and his officials.

Before we commence, I understand the committee is obliged by order of the Dáil to consider a motion on a Council framework decision on the organisation and content of the exchange of information extracted from criminal records between member states. There is a recall date of 8 May on that. I suggest that we consider this motion at the beginning of next Thursday's meeting, if that is agreeable to the Minister.
