SECTION 7.

We move to amendment No. 16, Amendments Nos. 23 and 26 are cognate and amendment No. 17 is consequential on amendment No. 16. Amendment No. 24 is consequential on amendment No. 23 and amendment No. 27 is consequential on amendment No. 26 Amendments Nos. 16, 17, 23, 24, 26 and 27 will be taken together by agreement.

I move amendment No. 16:

In page 8, subsection (1), line 13, after "thereafter" to insert "during the lifetime of both of the spouses concerned".

This is purely a technical amendment to make clear that applications for periodic payments and lump sum orders can be made only during the lifetime of both spouses. Similar provisions are contained in sections 10, 11 and 12. Amendments Nos. 23 and 27 are similar to this amendment and relate to sections 8 and 9 respectively.

I move amendment No. 17:

In page 8, subsection (1), line 14, to delete "concerned".

Amendments Nos. 18 and 19 form a composite proposal. They will be taken together by agreement.

I move amendment No. 18:

In page 8, subsection (1) (b) (ii), line 32, to delete “(if any)”.

These are purely drafting amendments.

I move amendment No. 19:

In page 8, subsection (1) (b) (ii), line 33, before “dependent” to insert “(if any)”.

Amendments Nos. 20 and 30 are related and may be taken together by agreement.

I move amendment No. 20:

In page 9, subsection (5) (b), line 28, after “respects” to insert “payments for dependent children or”.

I move amendment No. 21:

In page 9, subsection (6) (a), lines 41 to 43, to delete “and who would not make the payments to which the said first-mentioned order relates”.

This too is a drafting amendment whose purpose is to achieve in section 7 similar wording to that in section 43 of the Bill.

I move amendment No. 22:

In page 10, subsection (6) (c) (ii), line 1, to delete “of and substitute “or”.

This is also a drafting amendment, to correct a printing error.
