SECTION 84.

Question proposed : " That Section 84 stand part of the Bill ".

Mr. Lemass

Representations were also made by the same dockyard as that which I mentioned on the previous section and perhaps with more point this time. The purpose of the section is to extend certain provisions of the Act to harbours and wet docks. The whole Act applies to shipyards and dry docks and there seems to be a case for inserting in this section some provision similar to sub-section (2) of the next following section dealing with building operations. That sub-section provides that the prescribed abstract of regulations shall be posted in the premises adjacent to where the work is going on—not on the actual scene of operations itself—and there would seem to be a case for some similar sub-section in Section 84. If there is under Section 84 an obligation to publish abstracts of the Act and an abstract of the regulations, it would be more conveniently done in the office attached to the harbour or dock rather than at the place where the actual work is being carried out.

We will look at the point between now and Report Stage.

Question put and agreed to.
