I move amendment No. 39:
In page 9, subsection (1) (c), line 14, to delete "solicitor and client".
Amendments Nos. 40, 41 and 42 form a composite proposal and amendment No. 118 is cognate. By agreement, amendments Nos. 40, 41, 42 and 118 be taken together. Agreed.
I move amendment No. 40:
In page 9, subsection (1), line 19, after "control" to insert "or within the procurement".
This is a technical amendment. Its inclusion will dispense with the need for the final clause in section 10 (1) which is deleted by amendment No. 41.
I move amendment No. 41:
In page 9, subsection (1), lines 21 to 23, to delete ", or requiring the production to any such person of all documents in the possession of any third party in connection with such a matter".
I move amendment No. 42:
In page 9, subsection (2), lines 25 and 26, to delete "to the firm concerned or any third party concerned" and substitute "to his firm".
I wish to raise a point which may relate more to section 9 than to section 10. I raised this point on section 8, that is, where the society deems it necessary to conduct an investigation there should be a time limit on the allegations. This point was made previously and it draws the Minister's attention to the fact that section 10 starts operating when you use section 8 and 9. If there is a time limit for section 8, one would want to consider a time limit for section 9 as well. That would be a reasonable matter to give consideration to.
The Minister has already indicated that he will give that consideration.
