34 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his attention has been drawn to the statement by the chairman of the complaints board that the investigation of complaints is delayed in many cases until the accused gardaí have reached retirement age and are immune from sanctions by the board; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am aware of the matter referred to by the Deputy.

The issue adverted to is one of the matters that is being considered in the context of the drafting of the Garda Síochána Bill, which I will publish shortly.
