Questions (539)

Bernard Allen

Question:

535 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if, in view of the deteriorating state of Temple Bar, particularly regarding the situation in small enterprises and the increasingly difficult environment for residents in this area of the city, which has magnificent potential to become the showcase for contemporary Ireland, he will transfer the power to appoint the board of a company (details supplied) from the Dublin city manager to the city councillors, thereby making the process truly democratic. It is not proposed to amend existing legislation regarding the appointment of the board of Temple Bar Properties Limited, or TBPL. While I have no function regarding the activities of TBPL, I understand that the Dublin city manager has undertaken for the city council to consider further appointments to the board, and to that end nominations have been invited from certain local interests.
